VoicePaste is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, meaning Apple has scanned the app for malicious software before distribution; when you first open it, macOS confirms it has been checked.Yes. The Windows installer is new and not yet signed, so SmartScreen may ask you to confirm: click More info, then Run anyway. Updates are cryptographically signed.
VoicePaste's auto-paste feature requires Accessibility access to type into any app. The Mac App Store requires sandboxing, which blocks this. All comparable macOS utilities (Raycast, Alfred, BetterTouchTool) distribute directly for the same reason.
To paste transcribed text directly into your focused application. Without it, VoicePaste can still copy to your clipboard, but you'd need to paste manually with Cmd+V.
To hear your voice. VoicePaste records audio locally on your computer. In Cloud mode, audio is sent to VoicePaste Cloud for transcription. In Local mode with your own API keys, audio goes directly to your chosen provider. With Local Whisper, audio never leaves your computer at all.
VoicePaste can automatically quiet other audio while you record. In Settings → General → Recording, set "Other audio while recording" to Pause or Lower volume, and VoicePaste will quiet your music while you speak, then restore it when you stop. The first time you use Pause, macOS asks permission for VoicePaste to control your music app; allow it, or check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation if it isn't taking effect.Pause uses the standard media controls and needs no extra permission.

Not currently. Your transcriptions and audio stay on each device. We don't store your text or audio on our servers, only usage metadata for quota tracking. If we add syncing in the future, it will use end-to-end encryption.
Only what's needed to run the service: a hashed device identifier (cannot be traced back to you), audio duration per transcription, and language used. We never store your transcription text or audio. Email addresses are only stored if you subscribe to the newsletter, and payment information is handled entirely by Paddle.
Yes. VoicePaste runs on both macOS (10.13 High Sierra or later) and Windows 10 or 11, across Intel, Apple Silicon, and ARM. Your license and settings work the same on either platform.
Yes. Speech Cleanup tidies your dictation without changing the meaning: it can remove fillers and stutters, keep only the final version when you correct yourself mid-sentence, and fix punctuation and capitalization. It runs in Cloud mode, and you choose which passes to apply in Settings.
